Payday Loan Company Gets a Bashing

One of the UK’s leading payday loan companies, Wonga, had a severe tongue lashing on Twitter as thousands of people spoke about how unfair that a certain article written by Wonga appeared to target students to take out a loan.

This was described as despicable by people who thought that students, who had just left home for the first time to start living on their own, were unlikely to be able to borrow money responsibly. It is thought by many that Wonga was extremely underhanded in purposely pursuing such a financially naive group of people.

Wonga removed the article that sparked the debate and said that the content was mainly to achieve a better position in search results on the internet. They have various dedicated articles on their webpage depicting exactly why they are “responsible lenders”, encouraging people not to take the decision of borrowing money lightly. They uphold their idea that the service they provide is invaluable to people who need money quickly for emergencies and that they operate in a highly ethical way at all times.
