After studying a level philosophy for about six months I now believe that it should be a core subject at a level. At my school you are told that you have to take a language as one of your choices, for me this has worked completely against me as I am rubbish at French and won’t get the grades that will mean I look like a good applicant when applying to university. Philosophy however, I am completely converted to: it is a great subject that gets you thinking and most importantly asking questions and I truly believe now that it should be a core subject within the schools lesson plans. Learning a language has no relevance or importance to me and because of that my grades will become deflated because of it. I really think my school should think about the policy with regards to choosing a levels and reconsider.
