A Fight with My Mom

Sitting Correctly in the SaddleIt was not my intention to yell back at my mom. Things were just a little difficult and tight in school. I was not able to catch my temper in time.

I was in front of my computer the whole evening one Friday until the wee hours of Saturday morning. I was working on a physics research paper that was due very soon. I was not able to work on it in advance because I had dance practice every afternoon the whole week for a competition. With all these stresses, I thought of having a break from it all so I called up my friend, Leslie, and invited her for a day at the beach. When I asked my mom for permission, she said, “No,” and I got mad. The rest is history. I am mulling over the idea of running away and just rent a room where I could stay.

My Daughter Was Bullied at School

When my 12 year old daughter started to bring home poor grades and seemed to be withdrawn, I tried to talk with her but she seemed to shrink into herself even more. I talked to her teacher at school who had no explanations for her behavior either. I wasn’t about to sit back to see if this was just a phase because I could tell something was wrong. I did an online search for Therapy Raleigh NC to find a therapist who works with children. I was able to find one who agreed to see her quickly. We had some sessions together but there were quite a few where she was alone with the therapist so she would feel more open to talk with her. It wasn’t long before she was able to get my daughter to tell her about the bullying she was encountering at school. Between the three of us, we were able to get a lot resolved with her. She now knows she can come to me with anything also. The school did have to get involved as well because the kids who were bullying her needed to understand how dangerous their actions were as well.

  • These children don’t want to look good and have anxiety about their personality. They also have hostile nature towards their friends and relatives.
  • These children give up easily if they become unsuccessful in any task and don’t even try to complete that task. They also avoid eye contact with people while talking and always talk to others with their head down.
  • These children are very much dependent on their parents and don’t try to face any problem alone. If a child denies going in a friend’s birthday party alone then he is definitely suffering from the problem of low self esteem.

So, by studying the child’s behavior carefully, you can easily judge the level of self esteem in him and then you can take proper measures to increase the level of self esteem in these children.
