Excellent Book About Hockey
Tuesday, September 27th, 2011
Olympic team, you’ll actually feel your self going through history while you make your way with the journey that is “The Hockey Guide.” The caliber of writing is generally excellent and just about any story provides an interesting viewpoint on the sport. Olympic Hockey Team. Urstadt’s collection may be worth every penny. I didn’t drift off at all like I actually do with a few books about hockey backpacks. This guide is wonderful! I had been a freshman in college, merely a handful of years younger compared to talented young men who donned the sweaters of the USA to experience in the Lake Placid Olympics. They are a good for absolute beginners who wish to begin. So after the Cup Craze has ended, pull up a seat and revel in an inside look at the actual life stories of hockey and every one of its wonderful moments. The 1980 Olympic Winter season Games had been seminal for U.S. In my experience it is a great read if you are thinking about “David and Goliath” type events, are interested in history, the Olympics, or hockey in general.

2 Strike Hitting
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011
Many people have asked me over the past couple of weeks or so about 2 strike hitting and what makes a good 2 strike hitter. My response is usually with the question “What’s your approach to 2 strike hitting?” It’s at that point that I usually get the same answer that so many coaches teach. “I choke up and put it play” or I shorten up and make contact”. Come on guys, this doesn’t make any sense at all and I’ll use this article to illustrate my point.
First, I’ll answer the second question to this article, “what makes a good 2 strike hitter?” A good 2 strike hitter has a few different qualities that are pretty obvious.
1. Great eye/hand coordination and the ability to make contact with the baseball.
Good 2 strike hitters have the ability to swing and not miss very often. It’s as simple as that. That’s just another reason why I have all those drills for you in the hitting section of our library. They help you make consistent contact with the baseball more often.
2. They have a solid understanding of the strike zone. If you’re going to be good at hitting with 2 strikes, you better know your strike zone very well. You have to see the difference between balls and strikes because good 2 strike hitters do not look at strike 3 very often. If anything, they may swing at a pitch that is slightly out of the zone to defend the plate, but they certainly don’t swing at balls either.
3. They have a great approach at the plate. Good 2 strike hitters have a solid plan and stick to it and know what they are trying to do. If you’re up there winging it, its tough to hit when you’ve only got one more chance. Which brings me to the first part of this blog…my theory on 2 strike hitting…
It is my belief that there should be no actual change in your swing for 2 strikes. Yup, I said it. No “choking up and putting it in play”. No “shortening up and trying to make something happen”. In my opinion that is the worst thing you could do and here is why.
Answer this question, how many times during batting practice do you actually practice choking up and putting the ball in play? If you’re like most baseball players the answer is most likely never or once in a while at best. So unless your actual swing is to choke up and put the ball in play, you’re actually hurting yourself by changing to this approach. Why? Because you are giving up on the swing that you practice virtually every time you hit to go with a swing that you rarely use when it matters most! Does that make any sense at all? Of course it doesn’t
You see, it is my belief that with 2 strikes, you’re not going to change your swing, your going to change your approach. You have to expand to the umpire’s strike zone and be able to handle all pitches. You can’t be selective anymore. The swing stays the same. Now I’ve had some coaches come at me and say…”But he keeps trying to hit homeruns and he’s swinging too hard! Of course he’s got to shorten up!” My answer to that is that he shouldn’t be swinging like that on any count, let alone with 2 strikes. You just need to help him with his swing in general.
Here’s the deal guys, if you want to be a better 2 strike hitter, you’ve got to have the right approach. You’ve got to put yourself in a position where when the pitcher gets 2 strikes on you…he’s in trouble! Not you.
I’ve got those approaches that can do that for you in the exclusive library. Check them out, practice them and put them to use and you will hit better with 2 strikes. Period. Stop choking up and putting it in play!

What Traits to Look for in a Jump Program
Saturday, April 2nd, 2011
Settling on the right vertical jump program is the key for success if you are seeking ways to boost your vertical jump. As you look for effective ways to increase your vertical leap through training, consider some of the most important traits you need to check in a vertical jump program I am going to list in this brief post.
a) Knowledge
The best vertical jump program should give you the right knowledge and principles it uses in training to increase the vertical jump. It would be unfortunate if a program only focuses on informing you what exercises to do and how to do them without elaborating what benefits such workouts have on your body and what would happen if you do not do them right of if you do them differently. Some of the information you should expect to cover are the variations of plyometrics training, body composition, genetic factors, quickness, strength and agility.
b) Structure
It is important that you have the right athletic form even before you start out. A good program should highlight this issue and guide you on the best ways to attain the best form but this is something you can do on your own even before you get the vertical jump program. You will need to gain more strength through training, you will have to shed off any extra weight through traditional weight loss techniques such as aerobics and you will need to set your mind straight about the explosive training of plyometric workouts.
c) Personalized coaching
To have full confidence in the program you use, there should be a channel where your questions can be answered any time you do not understand something or need to know more. A program such as the jump manual has a forum where users discuss the training and an email channel where the developer answers users’ queries one-on-one.

Looking at the Adidas Predator X
Thursday, March 24th, 2011
The Adidas Predator x soccer cleats are worn by players such as David Beckham, Robin Van Persie and Steven Gerrard, but if that isn’t enough, which it shouldn’t be there are a couple of other features about this cleat that will be beneficial to any player, be it amateur or professional.
If you like the tight fit, which makes it feel like the shoe is glued to your foot then this may be your kind of boot. This adds to the comfort of the boot. There are no gaps that will cause any discomfort or blisters during play and this is the first thing you should be looking out for. There is a lot of grip and this comes from a special material designed for this purpose. You can play on all types of surfaces with this boot, making it very adaptable. It comes with great cushioning from the use of specialized material.

Just Do It!
Friday, January 21st, 2011
The Nike story is a great one. Some guy wanted to make a shoe with a different type of sole (he used a waffle iron or something) and then it turns into a billion dollar company. The marketing story is amazing, basketball players that wonder how to jump higher think to themselves “Buy Nike”! You look at how much these guys sell their shoes for compared to how much it costs them to make them and it’s shocking. I bet the profit margins are at least 1000% if not higher and they have factories in third world countries so that they can pay their workers peanuts. Anyways I’m not here to debate the ethics of it, but from a business standpoint they’ve been extremely successful and there’s no end in sight. People love their shoes and probably always will. I would love to be in a situation where I owned a business like that!

Baseball Umpire Equipment is necessary to have if you work as one. They will help protect you from any stray items like flying balls or baseball bats while in the field and watching the game thoroughly.
However, buying the first thing you encounter online or in a sporting goods store isn’t exactly the most ideal way to get the quality gears you need to have. So, to help you find the right products you need, here are some tips you can use on your shopping trip:
1. Invest on helmets and face masks. You need the utmost protection for your face.
2. Be meticulous when it comes to chest protectors. They should be tough on the outside but they shouldn’t hurt you. They should also fit snugly.
3. Shin guards should fit comfortably. They also need to be extremely protective.
These are just some of the tips you can use when shopping for baseball umpire equipment. In all honesty, these things are really easy to remember, you just have to keep in mind a single thing which is to focus on what will give you the best protection, so you can be sure that you’re safe while out in the field.
